Stanton Street Methodist Episcopal Church opens.

(Jul.) Designed in the Queen Anne style, it is located at the corner of Stanton Street and Evans Street. The congregation began meeting on Maxwell Street in the Spring of 1886. The building is now the home of the Zion Temple Holy Church.
